Paul D. Zimmerman (3 July 1938 - 2 March 1993 in Princeton, New Jersey)[1] was a screenwriter, film critic and activist[2]. He was a film critic for Newsweek magazine[3] from 1967 to 1975, but is probably best known for writing The King of Comedy directed by Martin Scorsese in 1982. He was the author of many other screenplays, mostly unproduced, and also the books The Open Man, The Year the Mets Lost Last Place and The Marx Brothers at the Movies[4]
